The new fitness gadget from Nintendo is selling like hot cake and anyone trying to buy it lately know how hard it is to buy Nintendo Wii Fit. The shelves destined for it in stores all over the US are empty and if you find one you might consider yourself very lucky.
So, whatâs the buzz? This is not a product for kids but for grown-ups because it provides one of the best alternative to the gym.
To be more precise, the Nintendo Wii Fit is in fact a wireless fitness board, just a little larger than a regular bathroom scale that simply connects to your Wii console. Youâll just have to step on the board and it will tell you how much you weigh and your body mass index. But wait, thereâs more. After some balance tests, it will also be able to tell your age.
Once youâve established all the details you will be able to play some very interesting games: muscle, cardio and yoga and balance events. It will be like having your own instructor with you and he helps you overcome various difficulty levels.
For example he will teach you how to ski jump. Youâll learn how to bend your knees and lift your heels. You can also play hula hoop (great at parties) and even the jogging game. This latter is a little bit special because youâll have to put your Wii remote in your pocket while running.
Itâs fun and youâll enjoy every single moment of aerobics, yoga and even muscle stretches. It makes fitness more relaxing and enjoyable.
Many girls amuse themselves watching each other trying different games and they donât replace their Wii Fit in their schedule for nothing.
In addition to all that, you can check out your daily progress very easily. Youâll have to set up your personal profile and establish goals. You can also check your BMI (Body mass index) and see if youâve earned enough fit credits.
The Wii Fit console is the perfect gadget for the entire family because it can store up to 8 personal profiles. Sometimes it might even be fun to try to compete among each other and see which one can win a certain game.
Another thing tat you probably didnât know is that the US manufacturer Peekaboo is ready to announce on the market a pole dancing kit with the help of Carmen Electra. Their main purpose is to help millions of gamers worldwide to learn pole dance. For now this is only a concept but thereâs a big chance that in the future theyâll release a Wii version that will include a pole dance video game and an extendable pole.
Most probably this game will challenge the Guitar Heroâs supremacy but thatâs great because it means that gamers worldwide will have a new way to spend their free time away from monsters, campaigns and cars.

Author: admin
Koh Tao, or Turtle Island, is not a big island; indeed it only covers 21 square kilometers. It is situated in the Gulf of Thailand off the western seaboard coastline, and it only takes about one and half hours to get there by high speed catamaran from Chumpon.
The majority of turtles that the island was famous for have moved away, and now it is known as one of the major dive sites in Thailand.
There is only one major road on the island, straddling the eastern side of the island, connecting the northern communities with those in the south. Other than that, you will need to take care when traveling around as most of the other roads are dirt tracks.
I find that the best way to get there from Bangkok is by train to Chumpon and then the catamaran. All in, the one way cost is only about 1,200bt and you can buy both tickets at Hua Lampong railway station in Bangkok. Depending on the connections, it takes about twelve hours to get to the island from Bangkok
Recently I went there to meet up with my mate Shane and Sao, his lovely wife. Sao runs a business supporting the dive industry on the island, and concentrates on renting out DPVs. For the uninitiated, DPVs (Diver Propulsion Vehicles) are normally used for diving and snorkeling and can go to a depth of 30 meters
Shane has had a number of business ventures in the U.K. and Portugal. I wanted to find out from Sao what she had learnt from him, and also, what her experience was of running a business in Thailand mainly catering to foreigners.
Allan – Ok, Sao, just how much have your learnt from Shane in running a small business?
Sao -Â Â Well, it was quite a novelty moving to such a small island, learning to dive and then starting the underwater scooter business. It has been an interesting learning curve, and I am lucky that generally all the people I have to deal with are all in all a friendly bunch.
Allan â What is the market like for DPVs on the island at the moment?
Sao – We are lucky that most of the dive schools on the island are happy to use our services, and frankly, diving with a DPV is great fun!!
Allan â What has been your most frustrating business moments on the island?
Sao – Getting parts for the Seadoo DPVs. Despite the fact that Seadoo is a household name in the water sports industry, we normally have more broken machines than working, and getting spare parts is a nightmare. At the moment 70% of our DPVs have broken down and we have waited nearly a year for spare parts. We are hoping that Seadoo can get their house in order and we can get back to offering the best service available.
Allan â And what is your favorite part of the job?
Sao -Â Getting out there and talking to people every day, and best of all hearing that our clients have had a great time with the DPVs
Allan â What advice would you give to someone starting a small business in Thailand?
Sao â If you plan to start a business offering goods or a service, make sure you can rely on your suppliers. The buck stops with you. !
As I have only been to Koh Tao a couple of times, I also thought that it would be good to get Shaneâs ideas on what to see and do on the island.
Allan â I know that Koh Tao is famous as a dive site, so what else would you recommend to do and see during the day?
ShaneâThere is not a great deal to do on the island except water sports and chilling out, but we do have a mini golf and a bowling alley, paintball, rock climbing and of course water skiing, wakeboarding, and snorkeling.
A round the Island snorkeling trip makes a great day out, available with various companies for around 650bt, stopping in five different bays around the island, but do remember the sun block!!!
(MELT offers a round the Island trip for 650bt, including fins, mask, refreshments/soft drinks, tire riding and a boom net.
Allan â Anything interesting to buy on the island, e.g. to take home as presents?
Shane â Nothing much is produced in Koh Tao and most things come from the mainland, However, Avalon offer large range of aromatic and massage oils, toners and various natural beauty products not readily available everywhere. Free advice is available from Andrea (Avalon@suthep.com).There is also an up and coming U. K. clothes designer recently arrived on the island – Nikki Noodles can design and personally tailor clothes for ladies at a fraction of European prices.
Allan â Where would you recommend eating? 1. Tasty and not expensive. 2. Excellent and not too expansive?
Shane â There are lots of places on Koh Tao to eat and drink. Eating and drinking establishments on Koh Tao have been opening at an alarming rate in the last couple of years
For myself, I enjoy a relaxing drink after diving at the Safety Stop in Mae Haad, where Western and Thai food is available on the menu. Brian, the owner from South Africa, also makes a mean Biltong (dried beef.). South African style!!
Dirty Nellys, the Irish Pub in Mae Haad, offer a western menu and a tasty pint of Guinness with live music some evenings. Choppers, in Sairee Village, also have live music some evenings, have large screen TVâs and show most sports events. Opposite Choppers is âMoravaâ, an up-market restaurant offering their speciality of fondue. Just down the road is Papas Tapas, offering an extensive menu of very tasty tapas dishes. Portabello offers a range of main courses including pizza and pasta, and there is also Brother Restaurant which has fantastic steaks.
There are so many places on Koh Tao to eat drink and be merry, it is probably easiest just to list a few places to try.
Chopsticks, in Mae Haad, has authentic Chinese food and is also a nice change from Thai food. The house speciality is dim sum.
The Golden, which is between Mae Haad and Chalok Ban Khao, has an all you can eat Korean Barbeque for 139bt.
Safari – Mae Haad – Great Steaks and pizza and pasta also available.
La Matta – Mae Haad. Pizza & pasta, takeaway and delivery available
Café Del So l-Mae Haad – great breakfast.
Zest – Mae Haad – for a great sandwich/baguette and delicious coffee; a perfect start to the day!!
Farangos – Mae Haad and Sairee Village â pizza and pasta.
Blue Wind Bakery -Â situated on the beach in Sairee – homemade bread and a very varied menu. It also has accommodation available at a very reasonable price just meters from the beach.
Shalimar Indian Restaurant – Sairee Village – authentic Indian cuisine in a walled garden surround. Reasonable prices with curries to die for.
Noori Indian Restaurant – Sairee Beach. Situated right on the beach next to the Lotus Bar, Indian food incorporating some of the best naan breads I have ever tasted.
Lotus Bar – Sairee Beach – if you are under 50, this is a âMust Go Placeâ and a starting point for the night life; meters from the sea, and a place to warm up before going on to the late night dancing a little bit further down the beach.
Sun & Moon bar is a 1st floor bar in Mae Haad at the dockside, and a great evening place. It has a playstation 3 and free Wi-Fi is available for their customers, plus a balcony to relax on as you watch the sunset. A cocktail as you ‘watch the sun go down’. is what makes the holiday. A perfect place to just do it! Loads of information and advice on Koh Tao is also available. Just ask at the bar staff, and, if they cannot help, then ‘They Know Someone Who Can!’ – Simon on 0810789963
Allan â And how about where to go to party after dark?
Shane – After Dark Parties!!! There is always the beach, and most of the late night places are on the beach; sit on the sand enjoying a drink, or get up on that dance floor and show everyone what John Travolta didnât do!!! The late night places are all in the same area, and some are open whilst the others shut. There is Maya, In Touch, Moov, one of which is open every night. Then there is the Castle on the way to Chalok Ban Khao that has a party every couple of weeks; well worth the wait!!! But donât expect to get much sleep. The party at the Castle is an event!!!!
Allan â Finally, what should you not do on the island?
ShaneâSimply, Two Things.
1. Avoid drugs. The penalties are harsh. Whilst in Europe a marijuana joint is a minimal legal infraction, in Thailand, generally, the penalties are over the top, and a joint can cost you a couple of thousand US dollars.
Class âAâ drugs will definitely put you in prison for many years to come.
2. Do Not Use the front brake on your motorcycle . There is so much sand on the road that if you use the front brake, you will most likely lock the wheel and fall off.
Any damages to the rental bike and you have to pay over the odds for repairs, so be careful when renting a bike, and always check for previous damage!
Johnny from Chopsticks offers the ‘Rent A Wreck’ Rental service – ,john_stafford75@yahoo.co.uk â has older bikes which work well but may not look pretty. Cosmetic bike injury he tends not to charge for!
To the uninitiated Koh Tao is a wonderful Island to visit; relaxed, friendly and somewhere you have to visit before you die. !!!!!
With the question and answer session over we retired to Sairee Beach for a few well deserved beers. A big thanks you to Shane and Sao for a wonderful insight to life on Koh Tao!
Shane and Sao can be contacted on 085 791 4610 or 084 840 5997 if you are interested in hiring a DPV, or indeed want to know more about Koh Tao.
Need to book some dives, find accommodation? Give us a call and we can point you in the right direction.
And finally, as usual, a big hello to my friends at the Thailand Web Zone, www.thailandwebzone.com, which is a new Thai social networking and Thailand community site. On the 3/22/10 show, he was wearing a T-shirt with a 1-line message but it was obviously blurred by the network. Was it a political statement, or a commercial promotion? I have never seen that before on this show – his astronaut face shirt was not blurred, so this was intentional by ABC. they censored a national hero!
Probably advertising . You pay to advertise and not allow it to be televised without paying for it. He probably didn’t realize that and so they had to blurr it out.
My Small But Effective Ways of Burning 100 Calories
Author: admin
In todayâs modern life, life is too busy. People do not have time for their family, their friends and even for their health. We have 100âs of ways to be inactive during the day. We have to spend most of our time in the office while working on the computers. And when we are at home, we do not prefer to do anything for our health, but prefer to utilize our time with TV, video games or computers again.
I made it very clear to you that we cannot lose weight or maintain current weight if we remain inactive like this for the whole day. We have to give at least one or two hours to our health and related problems. With 100’s of ways to remain inactive during the day, there are surely another 100âs of ways to remain active as well. We need to find handy methods for burning extra calories. Here I am introducing you some of my favorite small but effective ways of burn 100 calories or so.
- Most of us have a bicycle, which is rarely used. If you are interested in bicycling, doing it for 10 minutes will burn 100 calories for you.
- Find a fitness video that you enjoy most. So following this video workout for 15 minutes will help you in burning another 100 calories.
- Walking is the simplest of activities we can do for burning calories. If we do a brisk walk for 15 minutes that will exactly burn 100 calories for us. Walking is the exercise we can easily apply. We can do it in many ways like going for a morning walk with your friends or your doggy, walk to the office if it is not too far or going to a nearby market while walking.
- Using stairs is also a great way of burn some extra calories. So please do not use elevator and use stairs instead. If we climb stairs for 15 minutes or so, that will help us in burning 100 calories.
- Dancing might look strange to you. But it is also a good way for burning calories. You can do it anywhere where you prefer that perhaps depends upon how good you are in dancing. I himself not a good dancer, do it mostly in my bathroom or in my room with curtains on.
- If you have a car, then wash it at home. Washing it at home will help you health wise and finance wise also. We have to give a lot of physical effort while washing it properly.
- Do you have a small garden? Do the gardening there for making your garden beautiful. When we take care of our garden, we have to spend at least some time there. It will give us a lot of fun, enjoyment, mental satisfaction and helps in burning some useful calories.
- Playing any kind of outdoor game will help you in burning some useful calories. You can try games like badminton, volleyball, Tennis, football or any other outdoor game you prefer.
- We can have some other activities like swimming, bike riding and painting etc for great fun and for burning extra calories.
- If you do the vacuuming work at home for 20 minutes for so, that will help you in burning another 100 calories.
If your aim is to lose 1 pound in a week or so, you can try our any of these five physical activities to be able to lose 500 calories in a single day. With this average, you will be able to lose around 3500 calories, which is approx 1 pound of weight.

Pom Poms were onced reserved for Cheerleaders, but as the trend turns from exessive video game use and TV viewing, Australias little girls are beginning a love affair with the gorgeous, colourful, fluffy Pom Pom!
Parents couldn’t be happier, their darling daughters are spending hours in the back yard or in their bedrooms, dancing and singing with a Pom Pom in each hand!
High School Musical has elevated the Pom Poms appeal…so while Pink is still the most popular colour, Red and White Pom Poms are now making their way into Australian homes.
What to buy the sweetheart who has everything? – a set of pom poms in her favorite colour! – and they will cost staggeringly less than the whopping $60-$100 per video game! Plus, she is getting a workout and probably doesn’t even realise it!
Ok, you may have to watch the “routine” once in a while with a patient smile plastered on your face, but hey………
Look out amongst the crowd at sporting events, you will no doubt see it peppered with flashes of supporter colours – another popular use for pom poms.
Dance schools looking to add razzle dazzle to their routines are equiping their dancers with a set of pom poms.
Schools are encouraging team spirit by providing house teams with pom poms.
There is one company in Australia called Pom Pom Promotions, who proudly makes pom poms right here in Australia – there are a few other companies selling pom poms, but I believe they are imported from overseas.
Pom Pom Promotions will custom make your pom poms to order, so that you can choose a colour or colours to suit.
Their prices are less than the overseas products!
You can visit the website at www.pompoms.com.au
You will get friendly service and gorgeous pom poms!

Pilates in Australia
Author: admin
We stumbled across this Pilates video clip on YouTube recently and had to find out the story behind it. Itâs clean, crisp and professionalâand an exciting example of whatâs possible with Pilates. The fast-motion Wunda Chair sequence is especially amazing. It was produced by Louise Taube, a Polestar- and STOTT Pilates-trained studio owner in Melbourne, Australia. We interviewed her via email to get more information about the video.
PP: Why did you make this video?
Louise: For a number of reasons⦠ I wanted to draw attention to myself and my website www.louisetaube.com, and also to show the world how fun Pilates is and just how many exercises are possible on the equipment.
I used to make dance films, and I really wanted to show the equipment dancing and to bring a fresh perspective to the exercises.
I guess I am interested in reaching as many people as possible with Pilates â it has changed my life and I really want to tell the world about it!
PP: How are you using the video?
Louise: Making the clip was a dare for myself, and also a jumping board for one of my dreams of making Pilates DVDs and selling them to the world.
I guess I wanted to see responses to it and to generate courage for the next step of making a DVD. And now my first DVD is in production and will be available at www.louisetaube.com. Â
PP: What has the reaction been to it?
Louise: My clients were impressed and have become more loyal. Â Some were awestruck. Â I have a few new clients from it and interest from people outside of Australia who would like to do Pilates with me but are a bit too far away!

Social Role Playing Games
Author: admin
The idea behind role playing games, or RPGâs, is that you take on the role of a character, set in a specific location. You then act in the capacity of that character, making decisions based on experiences and the world around you.
Role playing games, as defined in modern terms, really got their start with Dungeons and Dragons board games. These games would consist of a group of friends getting together, and using such props as toy figures, maps, and dice, to take on the role of characters in a collective story. One member of the group was usually designated as a role master, who set the rules and filled out the details of the world which they were playing in.
With the advent of video games, much of the social aspect of role playing disappeared. You were no longer interacting with other people to create a story, instead you were usually just managing a character or a small group of characters, and acting in the capacity of some sort of inventory manager, whose job is to keep track of incoming gold earned by killing monsters, and outgoing gold spent on new weapons so you could kill, more monsters.
The advent of the internet, and the evolution of gaming devices such as the Xbox 360 which allowed users to connect with others on the web. This allowed for the creation of interactive role playing games, where a world was created, and then populated with hundreds of characters from around the world. World of Warcraft is one very popular example of such a game.
The problem with these interactive role playing games was that they are extremely limited. Players control a tiny avatar, but this avatar is constrained in its actions to what the programmers think to put into him. As games have grown in complexity, the options for what you can do with a character have grown, with users being able to customize the appearance, the skills, the traits, and the features of the avatar. They are also able to perform a variety of actions, such as dancing, blowing kisses, sitting, running, and jumping. The problem is that there is no real way to allow an infinite number of actions, because before an action can be performed, it has to be programmed in by the games designer.
These limitations restrict the amount of creativity that can be used by players. It makes it difficult to express a truly unique character, rather than just a standard cookie cutter monster killer with x number of hit points and such and such a skill level. It also restricts the ability of players to interact with one another in any meaningful way.
These restrictions are being challenged by some new, innovative forms of social networking. Facebook apps such as âVampires vrs Werewolvesâ or âPirates vrs. Ninjasâ allow members to add fantasy based aspects to their public profile, and even to interact in some ways. These interactions are still heavily limited though, and the very nature of Facebook makes it an unwieldy to conduct any decent role playing storyline in.
Other innovators, such as http://www.TrueLore.com are developing independent social networks designed to fit around a specific, albeit wide ranging storyline which is specific to that network. On this site, users are instructed to create profiles just like at traditional social networks. However the twist is that these people are encouraged to develop their profiles around fictional characters, including background stories, optional pictures of themselves, and any special skills they may want to include.
The role playing takes place across a variety of forums, blogs, and chat rooms. Users are encouraged to submit pictures and videos to help flesh out their storylines, and there is even an innovative battle system which is based entirely on text based descriptions of attacks.
The efforts of sites like True Lore, and several others, are bringing much of the creativity and imagination back into role-playing. Since interactions are all based on text, pictures, and videos, there are no programming limitations to restrict what can and cant be done. Further the wide variety of communication venues makes it much easier for members to meet and interact in more unique and meaningful ways.
http://www.TrueLore.com is a social role playing game. On Facebook or Myspace you have to be yourself, but on True Lore you can be anybody. There you will meet such characters as vampires, werewolves, wizards, and tree elves, and you might even find a cute demon to flirt with.

It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time
Author: admin
I saw this iPhone Application on the top 10 free list and had to take a look. I remember seeing this , Peanut Butter Jelly Time dancing banana several times on CNBC on Friday’s and thought it was weird, but also funny. CNBC would play Its Peanut Butter Jelly Time during the middle of a show and never acknowledge the fact that they just played it. I know it was featured on the Family Guy also.
This dancing banana doesn’t do much but sing, “It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time” over and over again. The songs lasts for about 1 minute and there aren’t a whole lot of words to it, but it is incredibly catchy.
The iPhone app is free and very small so it won’t slow your iPhone down like some others I’ve downloaded. Peanut Butter Jelly Time is turning into a very popular song/video clip and really for no apparent reason. But, I love it and think it’s pretty entertaining.
The Peanut Butter Jelly Time dance song actually started playing on TV about 2 years ago from what it sounds like. The dancing banana is going to be featured on a few shows coming up in 2009 as well which I just found out after doing a little bit of research on the subjed.
If you have any thoughts, input, or opinions on the Peanut Butter Jelly Dancing Banana, please let me know either here, or at the link in the resource box. Also, the author of this application for iPhone is supposed to be in the progress of making one for some Blackberrys as well.

Losing weight doesnât have to entail taking mystery diet pills or trying the newest fad diet. There are plenty of natural ways to lose weight fast that are lots more fun than starving yourself and going without good food. Here are some healthy suggestions:
Swimming â Take a dip in the pool and do a couple of laps. You donât need to be the worldâs best or fastest swimmer. Swimming really works out your arms and stomach area. You get great aerobic benefits without having to over-exert yourself. Youâre simply gliding through the water at your own pace.
If you canât swim, you can still get the benefits of a water workout. Gently slide into the pool and hold onto the edge with your fingers. Slowly extend your body out and paddle your legs up and down. This gives you the same motion as swimming (except for the arm workout), without you having to go out of your comfort zone.
Fast walking â Walking is one of the best and most natural exercises you can do. We really take it for granted because we walk all the time. However, walking to stay fit is different than strolling from the kitchen to the living room couch.
In order to lose weight, you need to go on a brisk walk. Get your arms pumping and your legs moving. Walk as fast as you can without running out of breath â you should be able to speak and walk at the same time. Start by walking a couple of times around the block, then increase the distance of your walks after you feel an increase in stamina.
Drink water â Drink as much water as you can during the day. Water is a secret weight loss aid thatâs right in front of your face. Did you know that your body retains water if you are dehydrated?
You may be dehydrated and not even know it. By drinking several glasses of water a day, youâll actually allow your body to release all that water itâs been holding onto. If you have ever felt that bloated feeling, this is why. Your body is retaining too much water, which also adds to your weight.
Aerobic dancing â Join a gym and take an aerobic dance class or buy a DVD that teaches you how to do fun fitness dances. People who dance regularly often have great looking bodies, thatâs because dancing is really a first-class workout.
Even if you think you have two left feet, nobodyâs gonna see you practicing dance moves in the privacy of your home (except maybe family or roommates). There are lots of dance videos on the market. You can learn how to do ballet, hip hop dancing, rumba, traditional fast-stepping aerobic moves, etc.
Weight training â Tone up those flabby muscles and watch the fat melt off quickly. Picking up some light weights and learning to do a little weight training at home or in the gym is a great way to naturally lose weight. You wonât get those bulging muscles, youâll just tone and firm up muscles and have a more youthful appearance.
Eating healthy â This is a no brainer in a way, but still with all the fatty foods that tempt you on a daily basis, eating healthy is actually harder than it should be. If all you were exposed to in the supermarket was rows and rows of fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, lean meats and yogurt, youâd find it easy to eat healthy.
The reality is that you have to walk into that supermarket determined to put these things into your shopping cart. You also have to pass by lots of delicious cakes, fried foods, soda and chips. Make a list of healthy foods to pick up before you go shopping, then put each item in your cart before you go on to shop for other things.
Biking â Hop on a bike and ride around the neighborhood. If you donât live too far from work, think about biking instead of driving or taking public transportation. Biking is a great way to get an easy aerobic workout. It will also tone up your legs nicely.
